Don Blum has over 20 years successful experience at the corporate, division, and operations level of global manufacturing companies.  He has held numerous management positions in Human Resources at both staff and plant levels for over seventeen (17) years, including: Division Manager - Education and Training, Manager - Learning, Development and Performance Improvement, Manager - Employee Development Systems and Processes, Senior Labor Relations Representative, Senior Performance Consultant, and numerous generalist positions.

Don has effectively led and managed human resource strategies from concept through implementation of large-scale transformations and restructuring efforts.  He has demonstrated effectiveness in leading organizational development, facilitating performance improvement, implementing human performance technology, managing projects and QS-9000 compliance.  Don has successfully increased productivity and satisfaction of customers and employees, while simultaneously impacting bottom-line results.  He has proven abilities in leading global teams, managing vendors, partnering with consultants, and collaborating with executives and stakeholders.  Don is known for his integrity, strong work ethic, high energy level, and stamina.  He's proven his ability to successfully work with internal and external customers.  Don has expertise in the following areas:

In 2007, after taking a buy-out from a major automotive manufacturer, Don established Blum and Associates, LLC.  Blum & Associates offers comprehensive and cost effective Human Resources (HR) and Organizational Development (OD) consulting, specifically designed to meet the needs of both small and medium-sized organizations.  Blum & Associates provide high value, exceptional quality, programs and services, aligned with our clients' culture, values, strategies, and objectives.

Don has consulted with a broad range of organizations including global automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), global Tier 1 automotive component manufacturers, non-automotive manufacturers, residential construction contractors, academia, county government, and non-profit organizations.

Education

Don Blum's education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration - Marketing, a Master of Science in Administration - Human Resources, and a Doctor of Philosophy - Business Administration.  He also earned a Certificate for the successful completion of a One-Year Advanced Study Program in Organizational Development.  Don is a Certified Master of Managed Change, and has received the prestigious Certified Performance Technologist (CPT) designation; one of only 60 in Michigan.  In addition, he is Certified as a College Recruiter, Manufacturing Supervisor Selection System Assessor, and an Instructor & Consultant Assessment Center Assessor.

Publications, Conference Presentations, Awards

Don has published thirteen (13) articles in the field of Organizational Development and Change Management.  His "Performance Improvement Tool Kit" was featured as a case study in the book, "Fundamentals of Performance Technology: A Guide to Improving People, Process, and Performance.  Don is a conference speaker and has received ten (10) International and Regional Awards for the development of instructional products and performance-aids.  He was a judge for seven (7) years for ASTD, ISPI and STC Awards.  He was inducted into the 2003-2004 "Who's Who in Executives and Professionals," and the 1999 "International Who's Who of Professionals"

Civic and Professional Affiliations

Don was recently a volunteer Grant Reviewer (Youth Stay in School Program) for the United Way of S.E. Michigan.  He participated as a Member of the 12th Congressional District Advisory Committee on Higher Education in Macomb County, and was on the Skilled Trades Advisory Committee for Macomb County Community College.

For many years Don has been a member of the National Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), and the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).   He is a member of SHRM Greater Detroit Chapter, and is a Charter Member of SHRM - EMA Chicago.  Don is a life member of the following organizations: American Marketing Association, Alpha Phi Omega - National Service Fraternity (past President), and Alpha Kappa Psi - National Business Fraternity.
